NEW CACO3 DRIER WITH LESS ENERGY CONSUMPTION

Obiettivo

The main project objective is the development of a new dry system of CaCO3, slurry with an specific consumption energy very lower than offer the conventional systems, a reduction of the energy CaCO3, transport consumption is reached because the among of water to transport is reduced.
The principal incovenient, that the conventional dry systems present is its high energy consumption in the phase of the water evaporation which is contained in the product and the high consumption in the transport.
The innovator dry system developed by the proposers expect with the application of an special DRIER design and the elements of energy production to reach a susbtantial reduction of energy consumption, in order to avoid its dependence of the combustibles derived from the oil.
The most significant points are :
1. Drier innovative design.
2. New cogeneration process (energetic efficiency)
3. 36% specific saving (0,165 to 0,105 TOE/Tn).
Any problem has been encountered until today. Engineering, manufacturing and installation phases are going normally.
SA REVERTE is an enterprise which is destined to make Calcium Carbonate from 1.958 with an actual production of 220.000 Tn/yr.
His actual productive process start in CaCO3 extraction with a purity of 99% in a nearly plant mine and with a humidity of 9%. After that the CaCO3 dry is made, with some rotary driers which let obtain a residual humidity of 0,1% with a granulometry between 100 and 1500 microns.
The obtained granulometry in this phases is not enough to certain applications, in which is necessary to obtain granulometries between 0,7 and 2 microns. To reach this objective it's necessary to get the CaCO3, in micron by wet way, to dilute the Calcium Carbonate in water and cationic surface active agents, reaching a final solid content of 74%.
This fact imply a product in a slurry way is obtained with 26% of humidity that is necessary to dry to obtain a final humidity of 0,1%.
The conventional dry technique may be on tunnel driers, rotative or Jet type, has a common problem, his high energy consumption because they have some intercharge and evaporation efficiency very lower. The designed dry equipment is a drier-turbo Jet type, it let the instantaneous dry (flash) of the solids and supsensions injecting steam and combining the turbulence and empty effect, with the displacement in a big speed of wet particles to obtain dry and disintegrated solid.
This drier will let the injection in its dry chamber of hot air or gases which will be generated in an energy plant and that will provoke its desingtegration and circulation.
The product to dry is introduced into a spraying pipe (suspensions) or into a Venturi, no-end or alveolar valve, (wet solids). It the dry chamber, when the prodcut is disintegrated a great increase of surface which moves to an intense dry action with a minimum solid warm.
The particles classification is made by a centrifuge effect into toroidal section of recirculation and by control of aspiration coming back to the chamber the weter onesand/or agglomerated ones while the disintegrated and dry particles go the air-dust removal elements.
In all this special design, two innovator aspects are included, they are specially importants to determinate the basic objective of the project "energy consumption reduction" there are, the steam injection to make the previous dry, instantaneous flash and the application of the hot gases to complet the dry.
Both heating fluids will be made in a station of energy generation integrated to the new drier that will let obtain : - Hot gases to dry the slurry
- Steam to the flash dry
- Electric energy to autoconsumption.
Some excess energy is foreseen there would be, which will be used to dry the mineral, about the gases and to sell the electric fluid to the National Company of the electric energy excess.
