Objectif This present project covers 49 solar crop-driers for use in Alpine medium and high altitude farms. It is intended to further equip 500 to 1000 Alpine farms with this technology. The measurements made during the summer of 1993 were analayzed. If confirmed by the ongoing measurements of the summer 1994, they lead to the conclusion of a adequate sizing and a correct operating.Solar crop drying is an efficient method to reduce all crop losses during harvesting in order to produce excellent quality food for the livestock.Solar crop drying allows cuttings-down amounts of nitrogenous fertilizers currently used on farming land. As a result, phreatic waters are no longer contamined by nitrogens. Finally, this technique represents a considerable help to farm work by mechanization of the whole crop harvesting process.Phase 1 : Engineering (1991-92)Phase 2 : Construction (1991-92)Phase 3 : Testing (1992-93)Phase 4 : Results dissemination (1994).
