Evaluation and optimization of a new system of protection for the oral administration of vaccines in aquaculture aimed at the deve- lopment of a 'drug-food'.

Cel

The main aim of the project is to develop oral vaccines. A work programme will be carried out in order to prove the efficiency of the gallenic form already elaborated by BIOVALEUR. Microencapsulation will be applied to 4 vaccines against : Yersiniosis, Vibriosis, Viral Haemorrhagic Septicaemia and Spring Viraemia of Carp; The study of the efficiency of such a form will be demonstrated at every stage : gallenic and immunologic, by checking in vitro and in vivo bioavailabilty and by comparative studies of the efficiency between the different vaccination methods.

The proposed protection system will be optimized according to the results knowing that the oral vaccination is based on protection of the antigen against the degradation at the level of the first part of the digestive tract and its delivery at the level of the second part of the digestive tract.

The project will be carried out following 4 phases :

Preparation. All the participants will be involved.

Bioavailability. The tests will be done by Biovaleur (BVE), Ecole Nationale Veterinaire de Nantes (ENVN) and Wageningen University.

Efficiency. Eurogentec will test the efficiency of the protection of vaccines against SHV and VPC. Whereas ENVN will do the same for Yersiniose and Vibriose.

Stability will be studied and improved by BVE.
