The context of the project is in the field of an innovative heat transfer media which is bio-based. The specific objectives of the feasibility phase has been to evaluate the feasibility of the concept and designing a demonstration phase and preparing for exploitation. The objective of the full project (phase 1-3) is to plan, develop, secure and bring to the global market the innovative non-toxic, non-corrosive and more eco-friendly heat transfer media. In terms of TRL the objective is to bring the innovation from TRL 6 to TRL 9. Objectives in measurable terms are (and to be documented in phase 2):
- decrease in greenhouse gas emissions
- biodegradeability
- eliminate toxic compounds
- mimize intoxication risks in the work place
- improved heat transfer properties
- increased temperature span in specific applications
- demonstrate cost efficiency
The work has been carried out according to plan. There are 8 tasks in the feasbility phase. They have been to map demonstration locations and applications, investigation of knowledge partners for phase 2, market survey of potential users, risk analysis and measurement parametres for phase 2, preparing an environmental product declaration, elaboration of an innovation strategy and an analysis of obstacles for business development for the innovation. The results are put together in a business innovation plan 1, which is the core deliverable of the project. The overall result is that the innovation project prooves feasbility and the company wants to proceed to phase 2.
The expected final results and impact in a five year perspective include:
15% of forestry industry market
5% of the manufacturing industry market
5% of the transportation industry market
10% of the solar power industry market
A turnover exceeding 25 million euro five years after market introduction, a profit level of 25% of sales, a worldwide market presence and job-creation of up to 50 employees.
