Enhanced track design solutions through predictive analyses [Task 3.2; TRL4] (Month 28) The deliverable will compile the work in T3.2. Here innovative solutions in the form of continuous supported track structures, new alloys and welding methods, and optimised ballast track will be presented together with the foundation and selected core components of the Shift2Rail Track structure feasibility evaluation framework.
Report on coordination and qualityReport on scientific & technical coordination and quality assurance (Month 32) Report describing the work on quality assurance and how quality-assured recommendations are forwarded to subsequent Shift2Rail projects
Core S&C issues– Identifying and Understanding Core S&C Issues [TRL 6] (Month 12) Final summary report into core S&C issues and missing links between existing failures and root causes identified. Operational failures and related whole life costs will be compiled and recommendation for key areas of improvement made.
Communication activitiesDissemination and Exploitation activities (Month 32) Report summarising the results/impacts of all the dissemination, communication and exploitation activities
Track influencing parametersEnhanced track structure – Status, key influencing parameters and prioritised areas of improvement [Task 3.1; TRL6] (Month 26) The deliverable will compile the work in T3.1. An initial identification of prioritized areas of improvements will also form the skeleton. Missing links between existing failures and root causes will be investigated and the influence of operational conditions highlighted. Operational failures and related costs will be compiled. Requirements for selected optimized solutions (with respect to track, mounting, connection and repairing techniques will be presented together with key areas for inspection and monitoring
Monitoring of tunnels and bridgesInspection and monitoring techniques for tunnels and bridges [TRL 6] (Month 28] Methods for tunnel inspection, monitoring and assessment will be presented including digital image correlation scanning, data base handling and tunnel condition marking index. A demonstration model will be outlined for structural assessment based on monitoring. Methods for bridge inspection, monitoring and assessment will be presented including non-destructive tests, dynamic behaviour, data base handling and asset management. A demonstration model will be outlined for structural assessment based on monitoring
Improvement of tunnels and bridges- Improvement of tunnels and bridges [TRL 4] (Month 29) –Tunnel and Bridge repair and strengthening technologies, including demonstrator concepts. Methods will be presented for drainage, transition zones and strengthening with Fibre Reinforced Polymers (FRP) under dynamic loads and for fatigue resistance improvement.
Operational abilities of S&CEstablishing and improving operational abilities of S&C [TRL4] (Month 31) Final summary report into enhanced S&C monitoring, maintenance and operational processes.
Enhanced track operation–Enhanced inspection, maintenance and operation of track. [Tasks 3.3; TRL5] (Month 31) The deliverable will compile the work in T3.2. Will present the development of highly efficient maintenance practices in terms of improved decision on actions (through extensions to the Shift2Rail Track structure feasibility evaluation framework) and the efficient execution of these. Further, scientific and technical foundation for robust and efficient monitoring and inspection practices are presented.
Design of S&CEnhanced design of S&C through virtual development and verification [TRL5] (Month 28) Final summary report into the development of a whole system modelling approach for S&C, including new component design enhancements.
Project Identity, website, brochure and document repository (Month 6) Production of IN2TRACK brochure with project identify and project background. First draft on document templates website for document sharing and storage including individual user login to be available month 2.
