Objective

Deliverables

  • Selected case studies

Based on and in close collaboration with analyses of WP2 (selection and assessment of 10 enabling technologies for more flexible supply chains), the following case studies will be selected to carry out interviews: • 10 – 15 “vertical case studies”, looking at the interconnection between discrete manufacturing industries (especially in consumer targeted domains like the automotive sector), • 10 – 15 “horizontal case studies” focusing on resource optimisation (especially local sourcing and industrial symbiosis).

  • Report on spatial flexibility

The purpose of this deliverable is to entail the business model challenges by deploying a holistic approach that includes assessment of impacts of the likely changes in supply chain dynamics as a result of the application of the technologies on the sourcing/manufacturing/ marketing/distribution processes of different actors along the supply chain (via site re-optimization studies) to redesign the network. In doing so, (flexible) assignment of the new roles to different locations given the constraints and capabilities in a delocalized setting given the interactions between different actors will be considered.

  • Preliminary evaluation of business models

Define key assets, critical success factors and flexibility parameters of existing business models and best practices for flexible manufacturing with/AND delocalization

  • Major supply chain issues

short list with the most critical issues and global/local supply chain configurations as an important source of business model design requirements
