Periodic Reporting for period 1 - IONEXAir (IONEX AIR IONIZER FOR INSTALLATION IN VEHICLES' CABINS TO IMPROVE ROAD SAFETY FOR EU CITIZENS)

The aim of IONEXAir is to solve two main EU challenges:
- to lower the number of road accidents and
- to protect passengers from constant accumulation of exhaust fumes and soot from traffic in their lungs.
The EU has problem with a high occurrence of car accidents due to fatigue and loss of concentration. According to EC, the social cost (rehabilitation, healthcare, material damages, etc.) of road fatalities and injuries in 2015 is est. to be min. €100 billion. By adding negative ions into car cabin:
- Concentration loss and fatigue can be remedied and
- the indoor air in all types of vehicles can be cleaned by attaching negative ions to pollutants and completely removing them from the air. Large quantities of negative ions mean much more efficient solution than current ionizers/ filters can offer.
Our goal is to integrate our solution in HVAC systems of major EU car brands by 2022.
With the guidance of business coach we have changed the focus from car manufacturers as a target customer to manufacturers of HVAC equipment/systems for automotive industry. Since then, we have been working on:
- In-depth analysis of the new target customer and target market
- B2B meetings with potential new customers
- Attending events, important for HVAC industry
- Marketing
- Attracting to cooperation different health NGOs
We have decided to continue the IONEXAirproject with a little modification. The priority is intensive search for a partner (first customer) from HVAC instead of automotive industry to work closely on pilot implementation and product development to reach commercialization, as estimated in the application. We will need to partner up with NGOs and different influencers to achieve more exposure and marketing. A lot of networking should be done. The objective and concept have not changed, but the approach will (more B2B meetings).
After successfully implementing IONEXAir project into automotive HVAC systems,we have an ambition to implement it first to other products of HVAC, such as dust collectors, air cleaners for household, and to transfer the innovation to other industries, like furniture industry, building sector.
The socio-economical impact of dissemination of IONEXAir project will be less road fatalities and car accidents, less health risks due to cleaner air in vehicles (and air-ionized buildings), saving costs, currently spent for rehabilitation due to inhalation of polluted air and rehabilitation due to car crash injuries and creating more jobs in the EU.
