STUDY OF THE HUMAN FACTOR AS AN ASPECT OF RISK IN REACTOR SAFETY RESEARCH (HUMAN FACTORS RELIABILITY BENCHMARK EXERCISE)

Objective

THE OBJECTIVES ARE THE DEVELOPMENT AND COMPARISON OF METHODS FOR THE PROBABILISTIC ANALYSIS OF THE HUMAN FACTORS IN PARTICULAR ASSOCIATED WITH:
A) ERRORS MADE BY THE OPERATING OR MAINTENANCE STAFF DURING THE REGULAR TEST PROCEDURES AND THE MAINTENANCE OF COMPONENTS AND/OR SYSTEMS.
B) ERRORS MADE DURING THE PERFORMANCE OF COMPLEX PROCEDURES WHICH THE OPERATOR MUST CARRY OUT DURING AND AFTER A TRANSIENT OR AN ACCIDENT.

THE PROJECT FORMS PART OF THE METHODOLOGICAL RESEARCH INTO THE PROBABILISTIC ASSESSMENT OF THE RISK INHERENT IN NUCLEAR PLANTS THAT HAS RECENTLY BEEN CARRIED OUT BY THE ISPRA ESTABLISHMENT OF THE JRC, WITH TWO BENCHMARK EXERCISES FOCUSSING ON THE RELIABILITY OF AN EMERGENCY SYSTEM AND POTENTIAL COMMON-CAISE FAILURES AFFECTING SUCH A SYSTEM.

THE AIM OF THIS RESEARCH IS TO STUDY THE MAN-MACHINE INTERFACE AND THE INFLUENCE OF THE OPERATOR ON PLANT RELIABILITY.
