Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) is a form of cyber-attack that renders a website, machine or network resource unavailable to its genuine users resulting in (i) downtime and / or (ii) a smokescreen for the introduction of viruses or other malware or to steal customer data. The downtime created by DDoS attacks is devastating for organizations that require reliable, non-stop (24/7) online availability.
