Project description
Innovative pressure probes for flame instability control in high-performance gas turbines
Dynamic instabilities are the main roadblock to developing low-emission, lean-burn combustors for next-generation jet engines. The EU-funded FAST TAPS project will develop wall-mounted fast-response pressure taps for combustion chamber measurements. Such an instrumentation should help extend the knowledge on combustion instabilities in realistic engine conditions. FAST TAPS aims to establish a new, complete and robust design methodology for fast-response pressure probes. Project activities will pave the way towards greener and quieter turboprop engines in the 1 800–2 000 shp class for business aviation and short-range regional applications.
