Project description
Building information modelling for residential renovations
Building information modelling (BIM) represents the most advanced process for creating and managing information on a construction project, overcoming construction process fragmentation and communication problems, reducing on-site time, and improving quality and affordability. However, BIM isn’t yet used to renovate the EU’s existing building stock. The EU-funded BIM4REN project will provide adequate and innovative processes, methodologies, software and hardware tools, and BIM developments for the renovation construction sector segmentation (90 % of companies are SMEs), with particular technical and organisational requirements. The project will rely on innovative BIM technologies like BIM Server (open-source) and BIM Bots by the TNO organisation. BIM4REN will create a web-based one-stop access platform to access the B4R digital ecosystem.
