Training programme in photonic integration technology

Photonic integration (PI) enables the delivery of multiple optical functions in a photonic integrated circuit as a single chip. The technology has a dramatic impact via the miniaturisation of optical devices and a decrease in power consumption and equipment failures. Funded by the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions programme, the EDIFY project aims to overcome the existing challenges of PI technology by creating a research training platform in the emerging field of integrated photonics and circuit fabrication commercialisation. The objective is to train early stage researchers who will jointly contribute to improvements in the performance and power consumption of PI technologies with an impact on data communications, sensors development, medical diagnostics, metrology and consumer photonics.
