Rapid point-of-care diagnostic tools to handle viral haemorrhagic fever outbreaks
The EU-funded VHFMoDRAD project is developing rapid point-of-care single/multiplex diagnostic methods that will significantly increase the capacity to handle outbreaks of diseases caused by filoviruses and other viral hemorrhagic fever diseases in Africa. The goals of the current project will be achieved via a multidisciplinary research consortium with the involvement of European and African research organisations and industry partners that will consolidate previous methods, tools and knowledge accumulated by the earlier EbolaMoDRAD project. The current project will put in place a strong capacity-building programme in West Africa and will disseminate all results as soon as they become available to public health bodies and non-governmental organisations via new outreach programmes.
