Project description
Collaborative network for rare cancers care and diagnostics in Europe and Latin America
Sarcomas, a heterogeneous group of rare solid malignancies affecting soft and bone tissues, represent 10 % of rare cancers. The efficient management of sarcomas is a global challenge, but especially so in the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) due to the lack of reference centres, and scarcity of expert pathologists, multidisciplinary tumour boards, access to cancer drugs, patient registry data and financial resources. The EU-funded SELNET project will create a network of clinical and translational specialists in Europe and the CELAC to improve the diagnostics and clinical care of sarcomas, with the ultimate goal of validating a collaborative model for the treatment of other rare cancers.
