Effect of polyinsatured fatty acids omega-3 (PUFAS n-3) supplementation during early embryo development on embryo viability in (mammals) sheep.

Project description

A closer look at reproductive physiology to boost fertility

Nutrition affects reproductive efficiency. Studies have shown that omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids (n-3 PUFAs) can be crucial for reproductive physiology. The effectiveness of n-3 PUFAs during the peri-implantation period in mammals is also being studied. However, further research is necessary to draw conclusions. This is why NUTREPHEALTH will combine morphologic studies, hormonal assays, genomics and proteomics procedures and embryo recovery/transfer technologies to evaluate the effects of n-3 PUFAs during the peri-implantation period. The results obtained will help enhance productivity in animal production systems, impacting both the life science and agricultural fields. The awareness gained in this proposal will also contribute to increasing the fertility rate in women with reproductive failure.
