Project description
Palace-museums central in cultural heritage industry
Palace-museums represent a rising sector in the heritage industry. They attract tourists, generate profits and serve as instruments of cultural exchange. The EU-funded PALAMUSTO project is studying the role palaces have played in cultural exchanges, both past and present. The project will forge a new understanding of the court residence. It will train early career researchers (ECRs) through individual research on site to learn methods of palace-museum conservation and management. They will learn to explain the palace’s societal relevance to all stakeholders and audiences engaged with this heritage. The ECRs will determine the significance of architecture, location, and objects in the palace functioning. The project will be supported by a geographic information system (GIS) platform.
