Project description
Renewable energy generation needs new power grid solutions
New forms of renewable energy generation promise a sustainable energy future and decreased reliance on fossil fuels, but these are difficult to integrate into current national power grids. In particular, increased numbers of small-scale generators and decentralisation of power production means that the modern power grid needs to be flexible, resilient and carefully managed. To achieve this, electronic storage batteries need to be integrated into the grid to handle the variability in energy generation and end-user demand. TALENT aims to integrate new batteries in the grid to address these needs, based on new scalable and modular battery technologies, hardware and software.
