The Future of European Independent Art Spaces in a Period of Socially Engaged Art

Project description

Training for socially engaged art

Socially engaged art aims to create social and political change through collaboration with individuals, communities and institutions for the creation of participatory art. The EU-funded FEINART project includes an extensive collaboration between degree-awarding research centres in political philosophy, art theory and cultural management, and the independent European art sector. It provides the first interdisciplinary and holistic investigation of the democratic role and function of socially engaged art in Europe. It plans to train 11 researchers, providing them with relevant academic and non-academic skills to engage with the challenges of this new artistic and cultural landscape.
