More memory to meet the insatiable demand for data

Today’s fast data world needs more memory storage. Demand is growing exponentially for AI and Big Data workloads. Invented back in the 1960s, phase change memory (PCM) is a form of computer RAM that stores data by altering the state of the matter from which the device is fabricated. PCM technology has the potential to provide storage even where there is large power consumption. The EU-funded NanoMMs project has a solution. It is developing a robust synthetic approach for PCM materials in the form of colloidal nanoparticles and molecular ink precursors. Ultimately, it will build novel ultra-small PCM configurations and multilayer PCM cells to reduce their price and power consumption.
