Global Impact Assessment of Regulations and Policies for Sustainable Aviation by 2050

Project description

Quantifying the environmental impact of global air transport

Airlines today are leaner, greener and safer, but their environmental impact remains a major concern. The EU-funded GLIMPSE2050 project will quantify the environmental impact at global air transport system level up to 2050 of regulations and policies that are currently discussed and potentially introduced until 2040. This impact includes noise and emissions. From this quantification, GLIMPSE2050 provides recommendations to target stakeholders. After the systematic selection of regulations and policies, researchers will establish the assessment scope and set the quantification process, building on proven and successfully applied approaches. The project will compare the environmental performance of the air transport system for selected periods with projected economic, demographical and technological developments with and without regulations and policies.
