Eco-friendly, efficient technology of coatings

Industrial coatings are essential for providing protection. Among many technologies used, Pickering emulsion is the most promising. But it needs to be more efficient and environmentally friendly. The EU-funded Woodywood pickering project enables the production of new technology for paints based on Pickering emulsions. It will apply nanotechnology to disruptive polymer technology that requires extremely low addition level, eliminating volatile organic compounds or adhesion. It allows the production of alkyd emulsions with a bio-based content of over 90 %, reduces costs of production and minimises CO2 emissions.
