ground-breaking PEROvskite technologies for advanced X-ray medical Imaging Systems

Project description

Innovative perovskite technology for new X-ray imaging systems

Semiconductive perovskite materials are widely used in photovoltaic solutions. Recent studies indicate that they can also be used in medical X-ray imaging to improve diagnosis and treatment of major diseases. The EU-funded PEROXIS project aims to develop a new highly sensitive and high spatial resolution X-ray imaging system that will provide advanced imaging functionalities for cardiovascular disease (CVD) and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). The multidisciplinary project engages eight partners from four EU countries consisting of representatives from the academic, industrial and RTO sectors. The results will greatly impact the medical sector paving the way for further applications of an advanced imaging system, the use of which will also extend to other clinical fields.
