Project description
Earth observation service for improved vine cultivation
Vine cultivation and wine business can be significantly improved with the help of Earth observation systems. The EU-funded VITIGEOSS project will create an innovative commercial information service to advance sustainable viticulture through decision support systems on phenology, irrigation, fertiliser, disease and wine business management. Satellite pictures will be combined with other data sources to model an integrated but modular management instrument that will cover the most important functions of the entire viticulture procedure. The project will integrate existing formulas to link satellite pictures with in-field sensors to improve the resolution and reliability of satellite information covering the viticulture process. The platform will enhance the use of the European Earth observation services to improve agricultural businesses.
