Examining anti-feminist discourse in Islamic women organisations
Anti-feminism is rife in Islamic countries. The EU-funded GlAntiFem project seeks to study global Islamic women organisations and the emerging transnational movement they represent. These organisations are similar in that they oppose feminism and global pro-activeness that influence and help empower women beyond Islamic societies. As countries worldwide seek to fulfil the UN Sustainable Development Goals by 2030, examining their counter-discourse and how it relates to their local contexts will be vital to understanding both how anti-feminists can potentially affect the efforts towards reaching these goals and how the goals are received by an important segment of the society in their countries.
