Blending physical and virtual environments for education and entertainment
Extended reality (XR) together with VR, AR and MR technologies open new, amazing possibilities for blending physical and virtual environments and spaces to provide immersive engagement in training, informal learning, culture and entertainment. The EU-funded BRIDGES project is proposing a real-world solution for remote and co-located group interactions in room-scale immersive mixed or XR reality environments. The solution will be validated in the real-world settings of two major international airports in Germany and Greece for training firefighters and first responders and in a museum in Greece for enhancing the visitors' learning experience. The industrial and commercial deployment of the proposed solution as well as scale-up guidelines for its uptake in the entertainment sector are among the expected results.
