Bringing new 5G components to audiovisual content production
The fifth-generation wireless network, 5G, is disrupting industry and creating numerous opportunities. It is also impacting how we experience videos and music. The EU-funded 5G-RECORDS project will investigate the opportunities to bring new 5G technology components to professional audiovisual content production. By adopting a business-to-business perspective, where 5G becomes part of the audiovisual infrastructure backbone, the project will bring the new components to emerging markets and new market actors. It will use non-public networks which can be deployed as independent and standalone 5G networks. Most of the 5G components will be developed and implemented by specific key partners, mostly innovative small and medium-sized enterprises. The project’s main challenge is to use 5G components from previous 5G infrastructure public-private partnerships and earlier research and development investments.
