Project description
Research and training to boost tolerance in Europe
Hate of a person or group is a direct challenge to humanity and a direct threat to a democratic and prosperous society. A dangerous rise in hate speech and intolerance is evident in different social, economic and political dimensions of society. Tackling this issue requires a deeper understanding of hate and its dynamics. The EU-funded NETHATE project aims to research the nature of hate, the dynamics of its spread in online and offline fora, mitigation and reconciliation strategies, and its impact on victims. It will mobilise a multi-disciplinary team of world-leading European researchers to conduct research and training of 15 early stage researchers in this pressing subject area.
