Smart surface design for effective anti-icing procedures
Ice has long affected safety in transport and general infrastructure. The EU-funded SURFICE project is addressing the design of anti-icing surfaces and systems. Thirteen talented early-stage researchers will be trained by an international, interdisciplinary and intersectoral consortium of experts in materials and surface science, physics and engineering. The proposed anti-icing solutions will be directly applied in aeronautics, energy systems and sensor technologies as well as the glass manufacturing and automotive industries through industrial partners. The project results will emphasise the importance of ice safety and promote advanced anti-icing technologies.
