Project description
Studying storms from the sun
What’s the weather like in space? As a branch of heliophysics, space weather includes the conditions on the sun, in the solar wind, in near-Earth space and in our upper atmosphere. No doubt, forecasting space weather is complex. The EU-funded SWATNET project will establish a unique PhD training programme involving eight beneficiaries and seven partner organisations from just as many European countries. The aim is to train a group of highly qualified professional researchers that will form the next generation in academic research, space industry companies and wider non-academic research fields. The project will also develop new methodologies that can be used to unveil the physical processes taking place in the solar atmosphere.
