Project description
The role of the endo-lysosomal system in cardio-metabolic diseases
Metabolic homeostasis depends on the endo-lysosomal system, which acquires the essential lipids and nutrients to meet the cells' needs. Defects in this system are associated with cardiovascular disease, diabetes and other metabolic disorders. The scope of the EU-funded EndoConnect project is to understand the interconnection between the endo-lysosomal system and metabolism. Scientists will focus on the regulation of endo-lysosomal processes, its role in therapeutics efficiency and the mechanisms that contribute to disease. Moreover, through an interdisciplinary training programme, the project will provide early-stage researchers with state-of-the-art scientific, technical and transferable skills for a career in the field.
