Project description
Protecting crops without pesticides
Along with the promotion of organic farming, integrated pest management (IPM) is one of the tools for low-pesticide-input pest management. IPM is based on prevention and non-chemical control to enable reduced reliance on pesticides. This approach is tested by very few pioneer farmers throughout Europe; the majority of European farmers rely heavily on pesticides with major environmental and societal impacts. The EU-funded IPMWORKS project will promote the adoption of IPM strategies. An EU-wide network of farmers who will progress further in IPM practices will help to show other farmers the benefits of holistic IPM. They will demonstrate low reliance on pesticides with better pest control, reduced costs and enhanced profitability. The project will also organise training and produce training material.
