Strengthening R&I amongst the SEA–EU alliance for sustainable coastal growth
Europe's coastal regions account for almost half of the EU's gross domestic product. Therefore, growth must go hand-in-hand with sustainability. The EU-funded reSEArch-EU project is uniting six coastal universities of the European University of the Seas (SEA–EU) to bolster its research and innovation capacity in line with its shared, integrated and long-term strategy. This includes creating a pan-European alliance, establishing an open science and open research data policy, and sharing critical analyses and best practices. The project will craft a trustworthy research structure for the SEA–EU alliance that will be visible to, and active with, main societal actors (citizens, entrepreneurs, corporate bodies, administrators) in an effort to successfully address societal and environmental challenges locally and beyond.
