Gender-based violence and institutional responses: Building a knowledge base and operational tools to make universities and research organisations safe

Project description

Reducing gender-based violence in academia

Gender-based violence (GBV) in research organisations and universities is happening across the EU. It harmfully impacts on individuals, institutions and the quality of research and education. The prevalence and consequences of GBV, including sexual harassment, tend to be underestimated in European universities and research institutions, and knowledge about how to reduce GBV is lacking. The EU-funded UniSAFE project aims to produce better knowledge on GBV in this field and translate it into operational tools and recommendations for higher education, research organisations and policymakers. To do this, it will investigate the mechanisms of GBV – social determinants, antecedents and consequences – by developing a 7P model that will be used to collect, analyse and synthesise qualitative and quantitative data.
