Reconnecting with nature to combat loneliness
Loneliness is a modifiable health condition that can shorten one's life, potentially having the same effects as smoking and obesity. Loneliness knows no geographic, economic, cultural or social boundaries and affects all age groups. The EU-funded RECETAS project aims to explore loneliness through a transdisciplinary lens, integrating social, behavioural, health and natural sciences, grounded in participatory principles. It will use randomised controlled trials and other epidemiological, anthropological and health economic methods to test socially – and culturally – innovative nature-based social prescribing in six cities in Europe, Latin America and Australia.
