Participatory Pathways for Reshoring European Manufacturing

Project description

Reshoring options for European manufacturing

The European manufacturing sector employs close to 30 million people in addition to offshoring. However, overreliance on global supply chains revealed increased vulnerabilities and unsustainability. The EU-funded RESHORE project will investigate the potential and limits of European manufacturing to determine the social economy fit for the future. To influence the discourse on sustainable economic transformation in the EU, increased knowledge on how emerging and existing manufacturers operate and prosper is required. Comparative methods will help explore existing initiatives in reshoring manufacturing in the Czech Republic, Germany, and Italy to advance a ‘diverse economies’ analytical framework, outline participatory pathways for local manufacturing, and identify the geographical influences for equitable reshoring transitions.
