Project description
Engaging civil society towards energy transition
Cities cover just 3 % of the Earth’s land but produce three quarters of its greenhouse gas emissions. Cities are growing fast – almost 85 % of Europeans will be living in urban areas by 2050 – making climate neutrality a priority. The EU-funded 2ISECAP project will bring together eight EU Member States to contribute to the implementation of the Sustainable Energy and Climate Action Plan (SECAP) at cities level through the Climate City Contracts. The project’s overall aim is to bridge the gap between local sustainable energy planning and implementation by supporting the capacity building of public authorities and developing interface capacities within public authorities to engage with civil society towards energy transition.
