Project description
A closer look at charismatic evangelicals/Pentecostals of Jewish narratives
The relocation of the United States embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem has gained the support of evangelicals and Pentecostals of Jewish narratives, rituals and even Zionist anxieties. Brazil’s Pentecostals are demanding their country follows suit. In this context, the EU-funded LUSO-ZION project will investigate the Jewish liturgy, rituals and Zionist geopolitical support by charismatic evangelical Christians. Through an ethnographic and geopolitical transnational comparison, it seeks to explain how and why this is becoming more and more evident all over the world. Specifically, it will reveal how these religious forms and political leanings are taking shape within the lusophone context. The findings will shed light on this new religious tendency in charismatic evangelicalism/Pentecostalism.
