Project description
The three Rs for end-of-life composite parts
Reuse, repair, refurbish, remanufacture, recycling and repurpose; the R6 strategy is the main pathway to achieving circularity and reusability of large-scale end-of-life products. Composite materials are used in various applications such as aeronautics and renewable energy industries. However, they have not been adequately recycled, due to several difficulties in processing those materials. As the use of composite materials is ever-growing, it is important to come up with solutions to deal with the increasing waste. The EU-funded EuReComp project will develop sustainable methods for reducing, recycling and reusing composite materials from components used in various industries, such as aeronautics and wind energy. As such, waste reduction and the creation of high-added-value products are accomplished.
