Drivers of spatiotemporal variation in temperature-related morbidity and mortality in Europe: analysing early adaptation to climate change

Project description

Understanding how climate change impacts EU citizens’ health

Europe is warming faster than the rest of the world. This is expected to increase the heat-related burden of disease (morbidity and mortality). The Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) TEMP-MOMO project will explore the effects of climate change on human health, particularly locally. This knowledge gap delays local and regional authorities’ adaptation efforts. It will evaluate the evolution of morbidity and mortality risk and burden linked to ambient temperatures and its key demographic and socioeconomic factors in France and Spain. The project will create a database consisting of daily death and hospital admission counts, and climate, demographic and socioeconomic datasets. An interactive mapping tool will provide authorities with easy access to data and climate risk profiles.
