Project description
Helping farmers produce green biogas
By using animal waste, Europe could double its biogas and biomethane production by 2030. The EU-funded ALFA project will support 50 livestock farmers in six EU countries in installing biogas systems. The project will analyse local livestock value chains and help farmers by providing them with a series of demand-driven financial, business and technical support services. The project will also develop a platform of tools to facilitate collaboration among industry actors and provide credible estimations of each farm’s biogas potential, prospect of profit as well as environmental and social impacts. Finally, ALFA will come up with policy recommendations. The supported projects should output 30 MW of electricity.
