Environmentally sustainable urban enterprise

Objectif

Aim to organise environmental factors in a declining central urban area as a basis for increasing economic competitiveness. Results to facilitate economically and environmentally sustainable activity which will become a stimulus for the regeneration of this urban area with the widest range of land uses.

A unique partnership of the local administration, prinicipal business interests, development and training agencies and community groups propose to regenerate a large part of the inner city of Dublin as a centre of environmental excellence. It is believed that this will stimulate enterprise and economic activities which in turn will create demands for development. This development will be guided to produce a mixed use of urban space, by the Dublin Corporation Development Control and Planning Offices.
The project will provide a conceptual prototype which will provide a framework for decision making. This will be implemented by supporting a number of key physical prototype where innovative technologies and design will be applied.
The project will also provide advice, training and the dissemination of ideas to help to alter public and private activities (including work practices) so that the environmental constraints to achieving a mixed use of urban space can be anticipated and avoided. A significant element of the project (20%) will be a programme to publicise or disseminate the concepts arising throughout Europe.
