URBAN RENEWAL PROJECT IN A DENSELY POPULATED URBAN AREA BY OPTIMUM USE OF SOLAR ENERGY

Objectif

The aim of the project is to demonstrate that the use of both active and passive solar energy in an existing, worn-down urban area would result in both aesthetic, functional and energy improvements. Accordingly, special importance is attached to solar energy utilisation not be made merely by application of simple glass constructions.
The glass extension has had costs according to the budget. The active solar plant has exceeded the budget with 27%.
The tenants are very satisfied with the building, especially with the glass extension. There has been a very big interest in general for the project, which has been shown on TV, many papers, many delegations from many countries etc.
The energy installations have been working without problems.
The precise energy savings are not yet known, because the measurement phase has not been ended.
The project has been delayes due to delay of approval by the local housing authorities.
The project takes place at Dannebrogsgade number 18 in the neighbourhood of Vesterbro in Copenhagen. Extension to existing block of flats with glass-covered balconies in order to extend the habitable area and collect solar heat. The extension is made in slight steel constructions with large, opening glass elements and firm air glass parts. On the roof has been installed solar panels for hot water supply.
