New centres for the applications of mathematics to industry are being encouraged. Detailed mathematical models for specific industrial problems are being developed. Young researchers are being trained in mathematics for industry. Four research fellows have been appointed to work on projects related to industry in their host centres. Several industrial and mathematical methodology meetings have been held and attracted strong participation from both industry and academia.
