Energy and environment project (1)

Objetivo

To improve the EFOM-ENV models for Portugal, Spain, Italy and Greece by the introduction of CO2 emission factors and CO2 reduction options, to support the design and assessment of cost effective CO2 constrained energy policies.

The project intends to provide the methodological framework to analyze the cost-effectiveness of various energy policy options to reduce CO2 emissions. This analysis is becoming essential to ensure practical and realistic choices for action, especially in the context of global warming.

Five tasks are included in the project.

1) The search for technic economic data (potential and costs) on renewable energies (DERE project) and fossil fuel technologies with reduced emissions (FRET project).

2) To provide similarly relevant data about conservation measures (MURE project).

3) The introduction of CO2 emission factors in EFOM-ENV and the modelling of MURE, DERE and FRET measures or technologies.

4) An analysis of the cost-effectiveness of CO2 reduction options and the assessment of cost reduction curves for CO2 abatement.

5) The coordination and organization of the work with other contractors in this CO2 study.
