Energy and environment project (2)

Objetivo

To improve the EFOM-ENV models for Ireland, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, Denmark and the Federal Republic of Germany by the introduction of CO2 emission factors and CO2 reduction options to support the design and assessment of cost effective CO2 constrained energy policies.

The project intends to provide the methodological framework to analyze the cost-effectiveness of various energy policy options to reduce CO2 emissions. This analysis is becoming essential to ensure practical and realistic choices for action, especially in the context of global warming.

Five tasks are included in the project.

1) Search for technic economic data (potential and costs) on renewable energies (DERE project) and fossil fuel reduced emissions technologies (FRET Project).

2) Provide relevant data about conservation measures (MURE project).

3) Introduction of CO2 emission factors in EFOM-ENV and modelling of MURE, DERE and FRET measures or technologies.

4) Analysis of cost-effective options to reduce CO2 emissions and assessment of cost reduction curves for CO2 abatement.

5) Coordination and organization of the work with other national contractors in charge of this CO2 study.
