Energy is precious

Obiettivo

Education, to develop pupil's citizenship in the field of energy.
Creation of pedagogic means well adapted for school work in order to develop pupil's citizenship to save energy and reduce CO2 emissions
- Role playing " what kind of heating system for your school building ?"
- Teaching game " find and stop the wasting"
- Exhibition in five panels
Results also in creation of a permanent network formed officially in May 1994 around ARENE from the study group.

- 30 projects of educational actions and realisation of short video "the region and energy" are expected.
To reach the SAVE programme objectives of reducing carbon dioxide emissions and to improve energy efficiency, behaviour changes are also necessary. The aim of this project is to develop pupil's citizenship in the field of energy.
A global approach was used taking into account all the means teachers can have to participate in the development of the citizenship (with pupils from 8 to 18 years old) in the field of energy. This brought to :
- take stock of the current situation :
* concerning the teachers demands (their sensibility to the subject, the methods they used, their expectations as for outside partners).Method used : non directing interviews)
* concerning the existing teaching documents (in addition to publications coming from French energy distributors, European ones were contacted - as well as Wallonie which has worked a lot on the subject - and Canadians). Method used : Networks.
- test different types of interventions aimed at the pupils :
* through financing of Projects of Educational Action (multidisciplinary projects led by one or several classes, for instance : schoolboy booklet to save energy in the school, evaluation of the energy consumption in the town, energy in the 19th century and nowadays : what has changed ...)
* through associations which organize activities (practical works, role-playing ...) which are complementary to the lessons.
- organize trainings :
training courses for the teachers, through the Department of Education and through the network of associations.
- publish documents tested during the interventions.
In the drawing up of these documents, instead of choosing the creation of editorial collections, we had in view the operational aspect. This way of proceeding comes from our concern to open the citizenship. (Exhibition about the risks of an unreasonable use of energy and about renewable energies, annual publications for teachers "Energy is Precious", role-playing "Choice of a heating system for the school", Game "Find and stop the wasting").
- set up a study group
This group gathers the Associations and the Department of Education. It made some of the educational associations for environment decide to invest in the energy subject.
