The main objective is to establish rehabilitation schedules for improving energy efficiency in old office buildings. Also, to record all energy data and characteristics of the old office buildings, to evaluate the potential and the applicability of the existing energy saving techniques, to investigate the limitations of the known technologies regarding the various office building groups and to propose specific activities and schedules for the energy saving of the old buildings.
Application of the rehabilitation schedules will seriously decrease the energy consumption of the old office buildings. This will result to important economic benefits for both the occupants and the National or EEC Economies.
Indirect economic benefits because of the reduction of the Social Cost of Energy.
Environmental benefits: A possible reduction of the energy consumption has a direct effect on the environment.
Selection of 300 representative old office buildings in Greece.Collection of energy consumption characteristics of each building.Creation of an energy characteristics data bank of old buildings Analysis of energy consumption (lighting, heating, colling, etc.) for each building and group of buildings (based on energy characteristics). Study of the energy saving potential for all buildings and each consumption sector. Selection of an important number of buildings and detailed rehabilitation studies for improving energy efficiency. Production of brochures describing the existing and the proposed situation for each building.
Writting of a resource-guide book describing the possible rehabilitation schedules for improving energy efficiency. Organization of a short seminar in collaboration with the Central Institution for Energy Efficiency Education in Greece.
