To develop and test a home energy auditing/rating package for the domestic sector in Ireland.
* A "final" tested version of a home energy auditing/rating package for the Irish domestic market.
* Increased understanding of the attitudes of Irish home-owners towards such a scheme.
The project entails:
- further development, and bringing to market, of a computer-based home energy auditing/rating scheme;
- market-testing, through the use of attitude tests, to identify the receptivity of the market to such a scheme, and the attitudes of the general public towards energy conservation in the home, and related issues.
The project included a pilot phase; a launch phase, and a short final phase examining attitudes of those refusing an audit.
Due to resistance in the market place in relation to existing houses, it was necessary to seek an extension of the completion date from 31/09/94 to 31/09/95. Other aspects of the work have yielded valuable findings, and the project continues. The Interim Report has been presented.
