Objective The achieved results have demonstrated that the proteinic phases, gelatins or hydrolizates, can be utilized as starting material for producing finishing agents. In particular the finishings by gelatins, in their native state and overall in the copolymers with BMA state, present a good resistance to wet and dry rub test (IUF 450). These agents then could easily substitute the traditional finishing agents, as the casein or the resins. The wet rub resistance in the use of hydrolizates, unfortunately, yielded less remarkable results. In any case the organoleptic aspect of the new finishings is very good. The brightness, the adhesion and the covering capability are excellent. However, the possibility to obtain finishing agents from hydrolizates, having a much lower cost, has induced consideration of the employment of these products. The best results are obtained by the use of condensates containing 12% of formaldehyde, for the casein substitution, and the employment of copolymers condensate: BMA (4:3), for resin substitution. The organoleptic aspect of samples being treated with the new finishing agents is decisively better than the reference.
