Using predictive acoustic techniques to maximize sound insulation in steelworks shops

Objectif

The aim of the research is to formulate a methodology for tackling and dealing with acoustic problems in steelworks.

The resultant methodology will be used to evaluate the acoustic situation at workplaces and/or in the environment of steelworks shops.

It will also enable us to define and evaluate what noise abatement measures are needed to reduce the level of noise to fixed limit values.

Use will be made of up-to-the-minutes acoustic simulation techniques, thus maximizing abatement measures from the point of view of acoustic performance and cost.

The methodology can be used to put a figure on global noise abatement measures in a steelworks shop as a function of the requisite acoustic standards.

Two elements are essential here:

- simulation tools;
- basic data to make the tools work.
